Farm to School Census Open Now

The USDA Farm to School Census officially opened in October. This survey only occurs every few years and is the only survey gathering detailed and nationally representative information on farm to school activities, such as local food purchases, use of edible school gardens, and food and agricultural education activities.

This information from the Census is vital to help schools, partners, advocates, and producers understand the role of farm to school in supporting resilient local food systems, contributing to student experiences at school, and improving students' health. The Census also informs FNS, policymakers, and other advocates on the benefits and challenges of farm to school activities so that they can secure and direct resources to support farm to school initiation and expansion.

The Farm to School Census Survey is sent directly to each school's School Food Administration (SFA), so remember to check your email for the link! Learn more about the survey and the past results here.
